Vanessë

Vanessë is the Quenya word for beautiful. It is one of only a handful words that can truly describe the realm of Lorien. No place in Middle-Earth can compare to this land, anymore than any living being can compare to the splendor of Lady Galadriel. The elves guard it's borders with great care, and only trusted friends may enter under it's golden canopy.

Lots of players who finally exit the dark splendor of the Mines of Moria are greeted with the brilliant majesty of the Golden Wood. Although you must first prove yourself worthy to enter, the reward of seeing one of the last ancient elf-realms has no equal.

Riding through Lothlorien on a sunny morning astride a white steed, with shafts of light pouring down from the sky, filling the forest with a radiant, golden light is the stuff poems are made of. This majestic area never gets old and is always a wonderful place to take some incredible screenshots of your character. I like to put on relaxing music and turn the bloom effect to max to intensify the morning light, and just stroll through the woods, soaking in the dreamlike beauty. It is a work of virtual art - one that currently has no competition in my opinion, save Minas Tirith, which has yet to make it's debut in Lotro.

Another Barad Guldur armor piece that has finally landed in my vault is the Hat of the Hopeful Melody. It's unique elvish design is so lovely and captivating, and will add a splash of elegance to any outfit. This is a must-have item for any elvish minstrel (or anyone, for that matter). It seems to pair best with dresses or long robes, and looks fantastic in virtually any dye color.

Enjoy the outfit!

  • Head: Hat of the Hopeful Melody, dyed Sea Blue (Barad Guldur Minstrel Armor, Classic Skirmish Vendor)
  • Shoulders: Gwir-Palvais, dyed Sea Blue (boe Isengard instances drop, light armour)
  • Back: Sheer Spider-silk Cloak, dyed Evendim Blue (drop from Dígelir in scaled Webs of the Scuttledells instance) OR Cloak of the Unwelcome Guest (Great River Quest Arc Reward)
  • Chest: Long-sleeved Elven Dress, dyed Evendim Blue (Kindred with Elves of Rivendell)

  1. Woohoo for Lorien home!
You positively glow in the Blue outfit!

I forget, do the elves still shoot to kill outsiders? I was thinking that they were issued a stand-down order so that people could get to Rohan from Moria.

    1. Thank you, Danania :D I love showing off my Lorien heritage - Galadhrim all the way! And yes, I do believe the Free Peoples have been allowed safe passage to get to the Great River/Rohan region. I imagine once Western Rohan gets released, we'll be able to go through the Gap to get to Rohan as well.
